Teledyne Technologies Elects Michael T. Smith to Board of Directors

LOS ANGELES - November 16, 2000 - Teledyne Technologies Incorporated (NYSE:TDY) announced today that Michael T. Smith, chairman and chief executive officer of Hughes Electronics Corporation will join Teledyne Technologies' board of directors effective January 1, 2001. The addition of Smith raises the number of board members to eight.

Smith, 57, joined Hughes in 1985, the year the company was formed, as senior vice president and chief financial officer after spending nearly 20 years with General Motors in a variety of financial management positions. He was elected chairman of Hughes Aircraft Company in 1995 and to his present position in 1997. Smith is also a member of the board of directors of Alliant Techsystems (NYSE:ATK) and chairman of the board of directors of PanAmSat Corporation (Nasdaq:SPOT).
